Six Senses Zighy Bay

Hotel Feature |

I know, Oman certainly isn’t at the top of anyone’s dream honeymoon list…but it should be!  The Six Senses Zighy Bay will totally change your mind with it’s cool combo of culture and beaches!  The resort is just a 2 hour drive from Dubai too so if you can’t decide between city and beach for your honeymoon, do both!
Their villas are gorgeous!!  Such cool design and architecture!
One of the coolest parts of the resort is your arrival.  You have three options: either ride in a 4×4 down the mountain, take a 15 minute scenic speedboat ride, (my personal favorite) paraglide in!  How amazing is that?!
Zighy Bay has a ton of amazing dining options as well but I can’t get over the Shua Shack option!  It’s an authentic Arabic dining experience served family style in this amazing ocean front setting.
And no honeymoon would be complete without a list of incredible activities!  They offer everything from water skiing and wake boarding to rock climbing and a sunset cruise.  You can choose to stay close to the resort or they also offer adventure options that are outside of the property as well!
Of course I have to highlight the spa as well, what girl wouldn’t!  It’s a complete oasis with it’s calm and relaxing atmosphere and both local and Asian inspired treatments.  Have a horrible sunburn from laying out on the gorgeous beaches all day long?  Enjoy their Natural Sunburn Soother treatment!  I know I could definitely go for a Balinese Massage right now!
Book your honeymoon to Six Senses Zighy Bay through Ever After Honeymoons and you’ll get a complimentary 60-minute spa treatment for two!  Let me know here!

The Viceroy Anguilla

Real Honeymoon |

While I love planning honeymoons for couples in newlywed bliss, I have a special soft spot for this anniversary trip I planned for Garret and Katie.  They were never able to take a true honeymoon after their big day so needless to say, seven years later, they were ready!  With such high expectations for this trip, I knew I wanted to make it ten days that they would never forget!

Who better to tell you how much they enjoyed their trip to The Viceroy Anguilla and share some photos than Katie herself…

First off, I think you can see our excitement.  Thanks, Katie, for making this “honeymoon” a reality.  We’re so incredibly thankful.

Offering five restaurants, two beaches, and three pools, the Viceroy made it difficult to leave the resort.  What more could we ask for?  We were, however, walking distance to several restaurants along Meads Bay which included Blanchard’s Beach Shack (they have a delicious Mahi Mahi BLT), The Straw Hat, and Jacala.  Coba was, by far, our best meal.  Exceptional service (they even offered complimentary champagne in celebration of our “honeymoon”), mouth-watering red snapper and ahi, and a decadent chocolate dessert.  Yummy!

Calming and luxurious, our hotel room (aka mini mansion) with its enormous bed and deep-soaking tub was an oasis. After a day lounging at Meads Bay or the infinity pool, one of my favorite aspects of our hotel was when we walked into our room we were greeted by the smell of fresh, citrusy peppermint.  It was so refreshing.  I wish I could encapsulate that smell and live with it permanently.  It’s the small things!

We ventured out to see one of the first resorts on the island, Cap Juluca, because we knew it had primo choice when selecting its location over 25 years ago.  Although the resort can’t compare to the Viceroy, it does offer one of the most breathtaking views of crystal clear blue water and white sand.  We felt like we were on another planet; there were only three other people there!  It was fun to take a jaunt over for part of day!

Breakfast at Aleta’s was the way to start the morning and how could anyone go wrong with this view!

I’m so happy they had a great time at one of my favorite spots in the Caribbean.  If you are interested in booking your own trip here, click here to let me know!

Bon Voyage!

Gadgets

Travel 101 |

These days, the hardest part about packing a carry on is how to fit all of your techy gadgets in with your snacks, beauty products, and neck pillow.  With all the choices out there of the extras to bring on a long trip, I decided to make a list of my top travel must-haves when it comes to gadgets!

Waterproof iPhone case: Laying on a beach or next to pool you’re bound to have some kind of phone accident!  Even if you’re the safest person in the world, bringing some kind of waterproof case for your iPhone will be one of your best investments.  Not only will you save yourself from damage, it will also be fun to use it for underwater photos!

iPad: A staple for any traveler!  Your iPad will save you tons of room by allowing you to download digital books, magazines, and games for both the plane and for lazy vacation days.

Jabra Solemate: This little speaker system connects via Bluetooth and will sound like you brought your home speakers out onto the beach with you!  The design is sturdy and makes it able to go wherever you go.

GoPro Camera: A small, easy to carry video camera that allows you to take gorgeous film even while on extreme adventures!  If you’re planning on ziplining, scuba diving, or anything else active, I would definitely recommend bringing along one of these little guys!

Digital Luggage Scale: The dreaded 50 pound weight limit!  Most airlines will only allow bags up to a certain weight and sometimes the bathroom scale just doesn’t make the cut.  Getting one of these will save you time and money in the airport!

Beats Noise Cancelling Headphones: Long flight and a rambunctious toddler sitting a few rows back?  These will be your best friend!  Turn on one of the movies you’ve downloaded on your iPad, sit back, and relax with only the sounds you want to hear.

Portable iPhone charger: JCrew offers these little portable chargers that are great to stash in your purse for low battery emergencies.  Getting caught in a foreign country with a dying phone is never fun.  Mine has saved me multiple times!

Happy travels!

Bon Voyage!

Eden Rock

Hotel Feature |

The last stop on my Caribbean island hopping adventure was St Barths!  This was my 3rd time going here, and certainly will not be my last!  There’s so much I love about this island.  It is French owned and most people that live here are from France, so it has a really cool European culture.  There are amazing beaches, incredible restaurants, a cute town with great shopping, beach bars, and beautiful boutique hotels.

I stayed at Hotel Eden Rock which I loved!  Is is located right on St Jean beach and is really cool boutique hotel with incredible rooms.

There is a lot you can walk to nearby, or you can take a quick drive to the town of Gustavia and other beaches on the island.  The beach here is really nice, and they also have kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling equipment.

We stayed in a Rock Classic Suite, which had a patio and steps right into the water!  The ocean is such a beautiful blue color with the softest white sand.  The beach here is really calm, so I loved swimming every day.

We ate at the most amazing restaurants!  For fancy dinners I love Isola, Bonito, Le Ti (Tuesday nights are especially fun!), Bagatelle, and On the Rocks at Eden Rock.  Then a few great places for lunch are Do Brazil, L’Isoletta, the beach restaurants at Eden Rock and Taiwana, and Nikki Beach.

The island has such a unique culture and atmosphere and is just so incredibly relaxing and beautiful.  I can’t recommend a visit to St Barths enough!

Hermitage Bay

Hotel Feature |

After amazing stays at Jade Mountain and Curtain Bluff, the next stop was Hermitage Bay.  I have had a long time hotel crush on this hotel after seeing many pictures of the incredible cottages, and hearing so many clients rave about this hotel after returning from their honeymoons.  So it was such an honor to be able to experience this special spot!

The hotel offers 25 individual cottages, all beautifully designed with dark wood.  They are either on the beach with an ocean view terrace or up on the hillside with a private pool.  The Hillside Suites are more private, with a ton of space on the terrace, and have gorgeous views.  Further up the hill are the more private the cottages which have an even better view (which was hard to imagine)!
I loved the outdoor showers and of course the spa was an essential on my to do list!  It was really nice, I would definitely  recommend checking it out.

They also have amazing food, the chef is incredible!  Some items stay on the menu every day, and then there are also new items daily.  They have a garden on property so everything is really fresh.  (Tip: they make their own hot sauce which is incredible!  You can buy it in the gift shop, it’s a total must have!)
The beach on the property was gorgeous and gave off a private, cove type of feel.  The water was sparkling blue and warm and the white sand was perfect to lay out on and enjoy a good book.  It was so relaxing and beautiful!  It’s the perfect place for couples to spend their first days as newlyweds getting totally pampered!

They also have a beach bar with fun cocktails and live music most nights.  The restaurant is also right on the beach so you never have to leave the beautiful scenery.

It’s an all inclusive hotel which means they can arrange any boat trips or other activities you would like to do.  And, since the hotel is so small, you receive really excellent service!  The staff is super friendly and quickly learn your name which made me feel so welcome!
Want to celebrate your honeymoon at Hermitage Bay?  Couples that book their honeymoons with Ever After Honeymoons receive a half hour massage per person complimentary!
