Honeymoon Destinations of 2013

Feature |

Glamour Magazine recently reached out and asked me to provide my 5 favorite destinations and hotels for honeymoons in 2013.  It was so tough to narrow down- there are so many fabulous spots!  I put together a list of my current favorite spots, based on what I am loving and what clients are asking for when planning their 2013 honeymoons.

First up, Fiji!  With a number of private island resorts, including the newest couples only resort Tadrai Island Resort, Fiji is the perfect spot for couples looking to relax in a beautiful & secluded destination.

Next up is Croatia.  With a beautiful coastline, cool medieval towns, and small islands off the coast, Croatia is a dream honeymoon spot.  My favorite hotel in Croatia is Villa Dubrovnik, with balconies right over the water!

My next favorite is the Amalfi Coast in Italy.  Italy is such a beautiful and romantic country, and the Amalfi Coast has small towns with gorgeous scenery and incredible little restaurants.  My favorite hotel is Palazzo Avino in the quaint town of Ravello.

St Barths is another fabulous spot!  This island has such a unique French and Caribbean culture, with boutique hotels, gourmet restaurants, and white sand beaches.  The perfect honeymoon hotel is Hotel Le Toiny which has private villas, each featuring their own private pools!

Last up is St Lucia.  This island is so green and lush, with the most warm and friendly people.  BodyHoliday Resort is the perfect spot for active couples, where activities like water skiing, guided ocean swims, paddle board yoga classes, archery, and so much more, is already included!

So tell me…which of these fabulous destinations would you pick for your honeymoon?

Australia

Real Honeymoon |

All of my clients are pretty amazing, but I really loved working with Pete and Carmen who were such a delightful and fun couple!  After their gorgeous wedding (which was featured on Green Wedding Shoes here and here) they headed out for an incredible honeymoon to Australia. Their honeymoon let them see the sights of Australia from the waters of the Grand Barrier Reef to the top of Harbour Bridge in Sydney. They were lucky enough to stay at four separate hotels giving them a true Aussie experience!

{snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef}

{relax at the Kewarra Beach Resort}

{hike (and swim!) to waterfalls}

{wine tasting in the Hunter Valley}

{personalize a lock of love on a Sydney bridge // enjoy your day relaxing at a pool or beach}

 {climb Harbour Bridge in Sydney}

Thank you Pete and Carmen for letting us enjoy your photos and experiences. It looks like you took your love to new heights!

Haven’t we all said at one time or another that we’d love to go to a private island? It’s a reality at Royal Davui Island Resort in Fiji, and we would like to be taken there immediately!  This adults only resort features just 16 suites, all with ocean views and private pools.  As if that isn’t enough, they also have a private sand quay just off the coast!

Fiji Sand Quay Honeymoon

After a quick boat ride you’re on a private sand quay where a sunshade, lounge chairs, and a picnic are arranged for you.

The best part? It’s exclusively reserved for one couple at a time, so it’s all yours for a few hours. Does it get any more romantic than that?!

Bora Bora

Real Honeymoon |

I am so excited about sharing this honeymoon to Bora Bora because Shannon and Scott did such a fabulous job documenting their adventures! In an effort not to forget a single memory and to share all of their adventures with friends and family, Shannon and Scott kept a blog detailing all of their fun in the sun in Bora Bora.

For any couples in the process of planning their honeymoon, especially if you are heading to Bora Bora, you have got to check out Shannon and Scott’s blog  They have a lot of great advice and opinions for anyone that might be heading that way. Here are a few other pieces of advice Shannon and Scott had to share:

– Go Big or Go Home: This was our honeymoon, we went where we wanted, did what we wanted, and had the time of our life. Truly, a dream honeymoon that was absolutely perfect.
– Research Beforehand: TripAdvisor was a big help to us, validating our choice. Bora Bora is not for everyone. It is a quiet, relaxing island. Nightlife is for the most part nonexistent. Life slows down there. It was wonderful for us because it was just what we were looking for.
– Jot It All Down: If you don’t want to forget a thing, jot it down. Note every moment, every experience, every special person you come across. Our family and friends loved reading our blog, however, it really was for us. We wanted to preserve these memories for a long time. Journaling this experience was something we were truly interested in doing and posting it on a blog was an afterthought (and a good one at that!)

Scott and Shannon had an incredible stay at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort in an Overwater Bungalow.  Just look at their beautiful patio!

How cute are they?!?  Scott and Shannon were so much fun to work with, and I loved that they kept a blog about their adventures!  Such a fun way to always remember their honeymoon!
