Hotel Spotlight: The Cove in Eleuthera

I recently explored The Bahamas, a coral-based archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, located a short 50 miles off the coast of Florida. The Bahamas are comprised of over 700 breathtaking islands and cays, with the clearest turquoise water you can imagine!

When most people think of The Bahamas, the first thing that comes to mind is Nassau or one of the larger islands. But on this trip I was able to get off the beaten path and explore Eleuthera, a smaller and less developed island. Eleuthera is a unique destination that is laid-back, serene, and untouched with stunning beaches!

When visiting Eleuthera I highly recommend staying at The Cove It is perfectly located right on the beach surrounded by swaying palms and white sand coves. It is secluded, seductive and stylish, offering five-star impeccable service. Every luxury that you could want is at your fingertips!

The intimate, 57-room resort has a selection of stylish seaside cottages and villas, embraced by endless turquoise waters.

Each suite is decorated in a chic and modern style, with neutral tones and clean white lines complemented by luxury amenities like: air conditioning, enormous and comfortable beds, floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, ultra-modern furnishings, large flat screen TV’s, Wi-Fi and luxurious bathrooms.

Some suites even have their own plunge pool!

All of the villas feature amazing beachfront views that you can enjoy from the comfort and privacy of your bed or outdoor patio.

The property has a beautiful infinity pool that overlooks the Caribbean Sea as well as private white sand beaches that are available only to hotel guests.

There is full beach service throughout the day with lounge chairs, towels and food & drinks and the staff are extremely friendly, exhibiting that warm hospitality that the Bahamian people are so well known for!

There is also a bevy of activities to keep you busy including: snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, biking, horseback riding, and scuba diving!

There is a fitness center and spa on property as well as a gourmet restaurant that serves excellent sushi. Their kitchen uses only sustainable produce and vegetables from their own gardens and locally sourced seafood.

Be sure to arrive in style and on your own schedule! Nothing is more Luxe than taking a private plane straight from Miami for the short 50-minute flight.

Once you’ve arrived, make sure to carve out time to explore every hidden gem of this beautiful island. The Cove offers Jeep rentals on property, so you can explore on your own! I suggest visiting The Glass Window Bridge, which offers amazing panoramic views of the rich blue Atlantic Ocean and the calm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. The contrast between the two bodies of water is truly amazing.

After that, head over to the Queen’s Bath on the Atlantic Ocean. Here you will find natural pools that you can soak in with crystal clear water that has been naturally warmed by the sun.

Finally, make sure to visit the Blue Hole. This is one the most beautiful cenotes that I have ever seen and if you’re brave enough – leap in!

Eleuthera is a destination not to be missed! If you’d like to start planning your honeymoon or vacation to The Cove please email me. Not only will you be VIP guests but you will receive complimentary breakfast daily, a $100 hotel credit, plus top priority for room upgrades.

Power Adapters

Travel 101 |

One of the most frustrating parts of traveling has to be that moment when you finally get to your (amazing) hotel room and notice that the electrical plugs are different…and you’re not prepared!  Even if you’re planning on “unplugging” while on your honeymoon, if you want to use your phone as a camera or you want to blow dry your hair, you might be caught in a sticky situation.

So instead of trying to figure out what you need for which country and investing in multiple, my best advice to you in to get an all-in-one universal travel adapter!  One of my favorites is the Ansmann version that can easily be found online or even cheaper via Amazon.  These adapters can be used in over 150 countries and is one of the safest in the world.  No matter where you go this little guy will be your best friend!

Gadgets

Travel 101 |

These days, the hardest part about packing a carry on is how to fit all of your techy gadgets in with your snacks, beauty products, and neck pillow.  With all the choices out there of the extras to bring on a long trip, I decided to make a list of my top travel must-haves when it comes to gadgets!

Waterproof iPhone case: Laying on a beach or next to pool you’re bound to have some kind of phone accident!  Even if you’re the safest person in the world, bringing some kind of waterproof case for your iPhone will be one of your best investments.  Not only will you save yourself from damage, it will also be fun to use it for underwater photos!

iPad: A staple for any traveler!  Your iPad will save you tons of room by allowing you to download digital books, magazines, and games for both the plane and for lazy vacation days.

Jabra Solemate: This little speaker system connects via Bluetooth and will sound like you brought your home speakers out onto the beach with you!  The design is sturdy and makes it able to go wherever you go.

GoPro Camera: A small, easy to carry video camera that allows you to take gorgeous film even while on extreme adventures!  If you’re planning on ziplining, scuba diving, or anything else active, I would definitely recommend bringing along one of these little guys!

Digital Luggage Scale: The dreaded 50 pound weight limit!  Most airlines will only allow bags up to a certain weight and sometimes the bathroom scale just doesn’t make the cut.  Getting one of these will save you time and money in the airport!

Beats Noise Cancelling Headphones: Long flight and a rambunctious toddler sitting a few rows back?  These will be your best friend!  Turn on one of the movies you’ve downloaded on your iPad, sit back, and relax with only the sounds you want to hear.

Portable iPhone charger: JCrew offers these little portable chargers that are great to stash in your purse for low battery emergencies.  Getting caught in a foreign country with a dying phone is never fun.  Mine has saved me multiple times!

The Never Ending Trip

Travel 101 |

Ever go on a vacation and have the “I never want to go back” feeling??  Happens to me all the time!  With the normal excitement of a vacation mixed with all of the newlywed bliss you’ll be feeling, a honeymoon will be the epitome of that statement.  I always love seeing the ways my clients decide to capture their honeymoon so I’ve decided to round up some of my favorites for you…

Postcards:
Sending yourself postcards from each stop of your adventure is a great way to remember how you were feeling and what you saw in each spot!  Plus, who doesn’t love getting snail mail, even if it’s from yourself!

Travel Journal:
Writing in a journal together would be a fun activity to start off each day as you drink your morning cup of coffee!  It’s a great way to recap the day before and all the fun adventures that you experienced together.  If you bring a Polaroid camera you can stick in photos of the day too!

Video:
While an iPhone app seems like the easiest, most convenient option, carrying a small video camera such as a Flip Cam with higher quality video and longer battery life is definitely the way to go!  If you’re especially brave, some of my favorite videos my clients have shown me have been on a vintage camera like an 8mm.  You can rent one for your trip and even hire a videographer when you get home to put together an awesome video with all of your film!

Local Treats:
Ship a local piece of art or your favorite bottle of wine you came across!  Something that you can visibly keep in your home to remind you of one of the best trips of your life!

Did you do something special and unique to commemorate your honeymoon?  I’d love to hear in the comments below!

The Perfect Carry On

Travel 101 |

I’m sure you’ve already guessed that I am one of the biggest travel fans and constantly find myself with a case of wanderlust!  But this also means that I’m living a lot of my life out of a suitcase, and lets be honest, that’s never fun.  But it can definitely be made easier!  I’ve become a pretty good packer (if I do say so myself) so I decided to pass on some of my tricks for those of you hopping on a plane any time soon.

Especially if you’re on your way to your honeymoon, travel stress is the last thing you want to think about.  Your carry on will be your best friend and your only hope if your luggage gets lost so it’s important to always have the essentials with you.

To keep you busy:
Stock up on your favorite movies, TV shows, and books but instead of cramming a bunch of DVDs or hardbacks into your bag, download them on an iPad or iPad mini!  There’s also a ton of super cute cases to be able to slip your entertainment into while still staying stylish (the adorable hot pink one shown is by Kate Spade).  Then of course don’t forget your headphones!  If you’re not an earbud fan like me, I’m loving these mint green ones from Urbanears.  Your movies will sound great and you’ll look cute listening!  If you’re on a long flight there’s a good chance that your battery will run out before you land.  I love storing one of these little PowerMate’s in my bag from JCrew.  It will give you a little extra boost of power but also come in cute colors and patterns!

To snack on:
Remember that most planes are not serving snacks anymore so make sure to stock up on something easy to eat but that will also satisfy.  Trail mixes and power bars are always a good option and don’t forget to hydrate!  Lots of water will help with jetlag and get you moving as soon as you land.

To relax:
Make sure you wear your comfiest shoes on travel days!  Slip on flats are usually the best for security lines and I’m definitely loving Madewell’s Summer Skimmers right now!  They work for night and day, on and off a plane.  Layer a soft tee with a lightweight scarf that can double as a neck pillow and then you can really snuggle in with your new hubby and travel blanket.  I also find that journaling while I’m traveling makes it so fun to look back and remember a trip.  Kate Spade carries super cute notebooks like the “Ready for Departure?” one above!

To keep that newlywed glow:
I know some like to think of a travel day as a day with no primping necessary, but I usually like to carry at least the basics with me.  An eos chapstick, hand sanitizer, deodorant, and makeup remover towelettes will be your best friend by the end of the long flight.  I also pack all of my makeup that I will use on the trip in a travel kit that fits in a tote just in case my luggage gets lost.  Buying an extra outfit when arriving isn’t too bad but nobody wants to deal with restocking a makeup bag!

There you have it!  These are the basics of my carry on!  What are your thoughts?  Anything I’m missing out on or you just can’t travel without?  I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Happy travels! xo
