Getting Ready for the New Year!

Currently |

New Years Eve is such a fun holiday! This year, I will be spending New Years in Bangkok and will be sure to share all of the exciting details upon my return. For now, here are some fabulous New Years Eve celebrations from around the world.

Image

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Venture down under for one of the biggest and best firework shows in the world in Sydney Harbour. Get a front row seat by hiring a skipper and floating around on your own boat or reserve a table outside at one of the waterfront restaurants by the Bridge. If you can muster the courage the next day, strap on a harness and climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge where the fireworks extravaganza takes off.

Image

GOA, INDIA: Join the hottest Bollywood stars & spend New Years Eve dining, drinking, & dancing under the stars on the white sand beaches. Keep in mind, the biggest parties tend to be around Anjuna, so if you want something a little more intimate, head south to Palolem.

Image

RIO DE JANIERO: Head south where it’s the middle of summer and celebrate with over 2 million others who gather to watch the fireworks off of Copacabana Beach. Everything happens right there on Copacabana Beach, so dawn your flashiest whites (traditions say wearing white brings luck with the New Year) and head to the Beach. While every restaurant and hotel will have a special New Years Eve menu for diners, one of the most scrumptious is most certainly Copacabana Palace Hotel. The hotel also has a fabulous party that goes late into the night and has a great view of the firework extravaganza that lasts up to 15 minutes!

BERLIN: Celebrate “Silvester” (New Years Eve) in the capitol with one of the worlds largest firework shows in the world. The Germans are notorious for spending a pretty penny on their fireworks and it’s said that you can literally see them popping from anywhere in the whole city! The biggest party, however, is always at the grand Brandenburg Gate, where you’ll find, food, music, & fun as everyone celebrates. If you don’t want to join the huge crowds at Brandenburg Gate, venture over to Teufelsberg & Viktoriapark, two fabulous vantage points from which to watch the fireworks.

Wishing you all a wonderful New Year!

This third pool had us doing a double take. Carved into the natural beauty of of Punta del Este, Uruguay, the pool at Fasano Las Piedras is the perfect way to unwind after a round at the resort’s Arnold Palmer designed golf course.

Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge, South Africa

Not only does each ultra-luxurious, glass-fronted suite at  the Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge afford stunning views of the majestic flora and fauna of South Africa, they each feature a private plunge pool. There’s no better way to end a day of observing Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, and Rhinos than floating beneath the unadulterated, star-filled African sky.

Wildflower Hall, India

Lastly, we have a private plunge pool at the fairytale luxury resort Wildflower Hall at Shimla in the Himalayan Mountains. The Galapagos Islands are known for the unique beauty, and the amount of animals on the islands.  The animals seem unfazed by the human visitors.  The Galapagos Islands are made up of several islands that are difficult to access if you aren’t on a boat.  The best time to visit this region is from December to May, although June, July and August are also very popular because many almost are most active during this time.

Old Town Quito (image)

What I love about this cruise is the number of islands you get to visit.  Also you get to spend 2 nights at the beginning and end of your cruise in Quito where you can explore the incredible Old Town area of the city. The cruise starts at $3,699 per person plus taxes and airfare.
