Getting Ready for the New Year!

Currently |

New Years Eve is such a fun holiday! This year, I will be spending New Years in Bangkok and will be sure to share all of the exciting details upon my return. For now, here are some fabulous New Years Eve celebrations from around the world.

Image

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Venture down under for one of the biggest and best firework shows in the world in Sydney Harbour. Get a front row seat by hiring a skipper and floating around on your own boat or reserve a table outside at one of the waterfront restaurants by the Bridge. If you can muster the courage the next day, strap on a harness and climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge where the fireworks extravaganza takes off.

GOA, INDIA: Join the hottest Bollywood stars & spend New Years Eve dining, drinking, & dancing under the stars on the white sand beaches. Keep in mind, the biggest parties tend to be around Anjuna, so if you want something a little more intimate, head south to Palolem.

RIO DE JANIERO: Head south where it’s the middle of summer and celebrate with over 2 million others who gather to watch the fireworks off of Copacabana Beach. Everything happens right there on Copacabana Beach, so dawn your flashiest whites (traditions say wearing white brings luck with the New Year) and head to the Beach. While every restaurant and hotel will have a special New Years Eve menu for diners, one of the most scrumptious is most certainly Copacabana Palace Hotel. The hotel also has a fabulous party that goes late into the night and has a great view of the firework extravaganza that lasts up to 15 minutes!

BERLIN: Celebrate “Silvester” (New Years Eve) in the capitol with one of the worlds largest firework shows in the world. The Germans are notorious for spending a pretty penny on their fireworks and it’s said that you can literally see them popping from anywhere in the whole city! The biggest party, however, is always at the grand Brandenburg Gate, where you’ll find, food, music, & fun as everyone celebrates. If you don’t want to join the huge crowds at Brandenburg Gate, venture over to Teufelsberg & Viktoriapark, two fabulous vantage points from which to watch the fireworks.

Wishing you all a wonderful New Year!

Tahiti, Moorea, & Bora Bora

Real Honeymoon |

It’s quite chilly over on the West Coast right now, so I think it’s time to warm things up with a Real Honeymoon to French Polynesia! Tai & Jeff started their honeymoon adventure at The Intercontinental Resort Tahiti and then ventured to The Intercontinental Resort & Spa Moorea & the Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach & Private Island. The two knew they wanted a tropical beach destination and this French Polynesian combination allowed for the perfect mix of relaxation & adventure.

Their favorite memory was most definitely shark & stingray feeding in Bora Bora. Tai & Jeff  spent the day out on the water, enjoying views of the beautiful island, exploring the coral gardens, & getting some one-on-one time with the sharks & stingrays. Talk about an experience they’ll never forget!

When asked if there was any advice the two would offer to other couples planning their own honeymoons, Tai said, “Go to your dream destination. Splurge a little while there, and be open to adventure. Memories are created through experiences and the memories you create on your honeymoon will last forever.” Well said! Thanks Tai & Jeff for sharing your honeymoon adventures with us!

Observatory Hotel

Hotel Feature |

Right in the heart of Sydney, in the historic Rocks district and opposite the Sydney Observatory sits The Observatory Hotel. As Australia’s most awarded hotel, this property offers boutique luxury and personalized service that is unsurpassed. The fact that it is only a short walk from everything you want to see in Sydney makes the Observatory Hotel the perfect base for your stay in Sydney.

Each of the 100 rooms overlook Observatory Hill or Walsh Bay and leave guests feeling as if they’re not staying in a hotel but in an elegant 19th century Australian mansion. If you appreciate antiques, astronomy, or anything resembling the colonial era, the Observatory Hotel is for you. There is a colonial ambiance about the hotel, especially in the restaurant, where antique decor, leather-bound-first-edition books and deep leather arm chairs make you feel like the member of a private club.

The hotel also has extensive spa facilities and a 65-foot lap pool that sits under a fiber-optic domed roof that is a recreation of the Southern Hemisphere night sky. They give the idea of “swimming under the stars” a whole new meaning… Insider Tip: Go to the Sydney Observatory, just across the street, and have a star named after you!

Is An All Inclusive Hotel Right For You?

Travel 101 |

Many hotels are redefining what it means to be an all inclusive property.  With five-star restaurants, pristine beaches, and impeccable service, these resorts are most certainly worthy of their luxury reputation. This being said, all inclusive hotels aren’t perfect for every couple.  It all comes down to the destination and the type of experience you are wanting. Here are some things to consider when you are deciding whether to stay at an all inclusive resort:

-Budget: Are you wanting to know ahead of time exactly how much you will be spending on meals and drinks during your honeymoon?  Then an all inclusive hotel would definitely be great for you.  This way everything is pre-paid: food, drinks, taxes, gratuities, and usually some activities.

-The Experience: Do you see your honeymoon spent mostly at your hotel, enjoying their beaches and restaurants?  Or do you see your days spent visiting the local towns and doing adventurous activities outside of your hotel?  It only makes sense to stay at an all inclusive hotel if you plan to spend a vast majority of your time there.

-Destination: Not every destination in the world has all inclusive hotels.  There are plenty in Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica.  In Fiji many resorts include meals but not beverages.  In destinations like Hawaii and Europe all inclusive hotels are not an option.

While most people think all inclusive hotels are just large mega resorts, there are also small boutique properties.  So don’t be deterred from staying at an all inclusive hotel just because you want to stay at a smaller resort.

I hope this helps with deciding whether to stay at an all inclusive hotel for your honeymoon.  Contact us at hello{at}everafterhoneymoons.com if you would like help finding the right hotel!
