Secret Bay is a luxury resort that is situated on a cliff-top overlooking the Caribbean Sea that boasts two beaches, the magical Cario River, a spectacular sea cave and two micro-climates. This would be the perfect location for any couple looking for a honeymoon with great adventure, food, scenery and culture all mixed into one. “Secret Bay is located on the northwest coast of the beautiful island of Dominica in the West Indies. The secluded villa complex is just a 10-minute drive to the quaint town of Portsmouth and about an hour’s drive to the capital Roseau. The beautiful expanse of Prince Rupert Bay – one of the longest, usually deserted, white-sand beaches on the island – is less than a ten-minute kayak ride away. Other nearby sites include: the well-preserved Fort Shirley and Cabrits National Park, magical Indian River and the Northern Forest Reserve.”
“Situated on a breathtaking cliff top, Secret Bay has access to two swimming beaches: Tibay Beach and the soft white-sand beach of Secret Beach (originally named Anse Quarre) – with its natural rock-formed arch, hidden sea-cliff cave and rich marine life. The property is bordered by the Cario River, which flows down from Morne Diablotins.”

While I love planning honeymoons for couples in newlywed bliss, I have a special soft spot for this anniversary trip I planned for Garret and Katie. They were never able to take a true honeymoon after their big day so needless to say, seven years later, they were ready! With such high expectations for this trip, I knew I wanted to make it ten days that they would never forget!
Who better to tell you how much they enjoyed their trip to The Viceroy Anguilla and share some photos than Katie herself…
First off, I think you can see our excitement. Thanks, Katie, for making this “honeymoon” a reality. We’re so incredibly thankful.
Offering five restaurants, two beaches, and three pools, the Viceroy made it difficult to leave the resort. What more could we ask for? We were, however, walking distance to several restaurants along Meads Bay which included Blanchard’s Beach Shack (they have a delicious Mahi Mahi BLT), The Straw Hat, and Jacala. Coba was, by far, our best meal. Exceptional service (they even offered complimentary champagne in celebration of our “honeymoon”), mouth-watering red snapper and ahi, and a decadent chocolate dessert. Yummy!
Calming and luxurious, our hotel room (aka mini mansion) with its enormous bed and deep-soaking tub was an oasis. After a day lounging at Meads Bay or the infinity pool, one of my favorite aspects of our hotel was when we walked into our room we were greeted by the smell of fresh, citrusy peppermint. It was so refreshing. I wish I could encapsulate that smell and live with it permanently. It’s the small things!
We ventured out to see one of the first resorts on the island, Cap Juluca, because we knew it had primo choice when selecting its location over 25 years ago. Although the resort can’t compare to the Viceroy, it does offer one of the most breathtaking views of crystal clear blue water and white sand. We felt like we were on another planet; there were only three other people there! It was fun to take a jaunt over for part of day!
Breakfast at Aleta’s was the way to start the morning and how could anyone go wrong with this view!
I’m so happy they had a great time at one of my favorite spots in the Caribbean. If you are interested in booking your own trip here, click here to let me know!
After amazing stays at Jade Mountain and Curtain Bluff, the next stop was Hermitage Bay. I have had a long time hotel crush on this hotel after seeing many pictures of the incredible cottages, and hearing so many clients rave about this hotel after returning from their honeymoons. So it was such an honor to be able to experience this special spot!
The hotel offers 25 individual cottages, all beautifully designed with dark wood. They are either on the beach with an ocean view terrace or up on the hillside with a private pool. The Hillside Suites are more private, with a ton of space on the terrace, and have gorgeous views. Further up the hill are the more private the cottages which have an even better view (which was hard to imagine)! I loved the outdoor showers and of course the spa was an essential on my to do list! It was really nice, I would definitely recommend checking it out.
They also have amazing food, the chef is incredible! Some items stay on the menu every day, and then there are also new items daily. They have a garden on property so everything is really fresh. (Tip: they make their own hot sauce which is incredible! You can buy it in the gift shop, it’s a total must have!) The beach on the property was gorgeous and gave off a private, cove type of feel. The water was sparkling blue and warm and the white sand was perfect to lay out on and enjoy a good book. It was so relaxing and beautiful! It’s the perfect place for couples to spend their first days as newlyweds getting totally pampered!
They also have a beach bar with fun cocktails and live music most nights. The restaurant is also right on the beach so you never have to leave the beautiful scenery.
It’s an all inclusive hotel which means they can arrange any boat trips or other activities you would like to do. And, since the hotel is so small, you receive really excellent service! The staff is super friendly and quickly learn your name which made me feel so welcome! Want to celebrate your honeymoon at Hermitage Bay? Couples that book their honeymoons with Ever After Honeymoons receive a half hour massage per person complimentary!
After an amazing stay at Jade Mountain in St Lucia, I took a quick flight over to the gorgeous island of Antigua. The first hotel I stayed at is Curtain Bluff Resort. There is so much that I loved about this resort!
First of all, it’s all inclusive with excellent food and drinks, and tons of activities including tubing, deep sea fishing, tennis professionals, scuba diving, etc. Everything is super easy and hassle free! The whole resort has a really warm, welcoming atmosphere with amazing service and the most genuine friendly people! No wonder why so many guests keep coming back every year! Curtain Bluff sits right on the most beautiful beach with white sand and crystal clear water. It’s perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or enjoying a day on the boat!
What I especially loved is that every room is right on the water! The hotel is two stories, so you either have a patio right on the beach or a second floor terrace right over the beach. You can hear waves crashing while laying in your bed- what better sound to go to sleep to?! It’s definitely the perfect spot for couples that are active with all the activities included in the room rate (scuba diving, waterskiing, beach toys, deep-sea fishing, and tons more). You can relax on the beach and do as much or as little as you want each day! The beach bar and restaurant is right on the beach too! The resort also offers a beautiful ocean view yoga platform and an incredible spa to keep you relaxed and in vacation mode.
The resort is super relaxed and laid back so there’s no need to get dressed up but there is nighttime entertainment available if you want a fun night out!
As if I had to convince you anymore that this place is amazing, Ever After Honeymoons clients receive a room upgrade and a $100 resort credit when booking a trip to Curtain Bluff!
