Castiglioncello del Trinoro, home to Monteverdi, is midway between Rome and Florence in the heart of Tuscany. The views alone are enough to make any honeymoon completely unforgettable! “Any view from this mountaintop retreat reveals a way of life that has remained largely unchanged for centuries. Sheep grazing on the hillsides provide the milk for pecorino cheese, while local vineyards produce the grapes that will become the finest wines in the world.”
Day trips are an option for any couple looking to explore the surrounding area, as Florence and Rome are accessible by catching the train from nearby Chiusi. “Whether you choose to stay on the mountaintop and hike the trails surrounding the village, or sit on the veranda and admire the vastness of the Val d’Orcia, or drive to a nearby village for shopping, art and history, or make an excursion to one of the greatest cities in the world, it is all possible during a stay at Monteverdi.”
Easy to see why this hotel has been a favorite for our honeymoon couples!

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Amanzoe recently, a resort set in Porto Heli Greece. It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Athens on the mainland of Greece, set on the coast. The resort is on a hillside with stunning views, surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. Then just a 10 minute drive to the sea is a gorgeous beach club.
I loved this area of Greece- definitely not touristy, and relatively unknown by Americans. We went wine tasting at a nearby small family vineyard, enjoyed lots of sun at the beach club, enjoyed a cocktail at the new Nikki Beach Porto Heli, and took a water taxi to the island of Spetses. This island is so charming, with small boutiques and great restaurants on the water. I would definitely recommend a visit!
Amanzoe has the most stunning architecture, very much inspired by the Greek culture. Lots of water features, very high ceilings, and a lot of columns. Very grand! And the villas. WOW!!! Every Pavillion is incredibly spacious with a private pool and such beautiful decor. It was tough to leave!
Also making it tough to leave- the service! Everyone was so incredibly friendly and anxious to help. And such great restaurants! They took local ingredients to a whole new level with listing the name of the local farmers who they purchase the ingredients from! And you could tell- everything was so incredibly fresh and delicious.
Isn’t Amanzoe incredible? I can’t recommend it enough! Even better- clients of Ever After Honeymoons receive complimentary breakfast daily, lunch one day, an upgrade whenever available, and extra special VIP service. Email me to learn more about this beautiful resort!
Mallory and Jonathan spent their honeymoon in Greece: Athens, Crete and Santorini. They loved their experience and were kind enough to share it with us!
Athens: Our timeframe was great! We got the sights done in one day. We definitely recommend getting to the Acropolis in the early morning before it gets crowded. I think we were there at 8:30am and by the time we left, it was getting very busy. We visited Areopagus, Ancient Agora, Syntagma Square, Ministiraki and Plaka. The flea market (Ministiraki) was very cool! We stayed at the New Hotel and it was great! The people were friendly and helpful and the place was immaculate. Their rooftop bar is pretty cool with a great view of the Acropolis and the location was perfect for getting around Athens. We would recommend it!
Crete: Crete is much bigger than we realized and doing some research ahead of time is recommended. Domes of Elounda is a pretty neat hotel with fantastic views! We got an amazing Villa upgrade, which was incredible! Thank you, thank you, for that. It was unreal (2 bedrooms, three bathrooms, our own pool, kitchen, etc…). Amazing.
Santorini: The ferry was excellent, thank you for recommending the business class seats. As advertised, they were way better! Canavas Oia Suites is a really neat place, obviously with amazing views and service. The Santorini Wine Tour was great, we had a really fun time on this excursion! We met other couples, we loved the guide and obviously enjoyed the wine. It was well worth it to do this excursion and I would highly recommend a wine tour to anyone that likes wine!

Shannon and Dan spent their honeymoon in the beautiful city of Rome, the gorgeous Amalfi Coast and then the bustling city of Barcelona. “We loved each city – each for different reasons. Rome with the history, sights, and the great food! After a whirlwind few days in Rome, heading to the Amalfi Coast was perfect.”
We could not have imagined a more beautiful place than Ravello and Palazzo Avino! There are just not adequate words to describe the beauty of the views (not to mention the beach club – WOW). Our upgraded room had a great balcony where we shared drinks and snacks every night looking out on the gorgeous water view. And Ravello was just what we needed – we did excursions such as to Capri for a day, but it was so nice coming home to quiet Ravello full of the nicest people! And, wow, Barcelona – so amazing in its own way. The pool and location right on the beach was perfect for relaxing after our busy days exploring the amazing city! The city truly is electric you can feel the enthusiasm.”
