Mike and Cate wanted a honeymoon filled with adventure, relaxation, and no rain, and Bali was the perfect fit! Read about their amazing honeymoon below.
From Cate and Mike
“Katie was incredible in helping us plan our once in a lifetime honeymoon. We started the trip in Uluwatu at the Bvlgari. We were picked up in style, swept through customs, and taken to our paradise for the next few days. The hotel was i.n.c.r.e.d.i.b.le. Katie was able to get us an upgrade to an Ocean Cliff Villa. We mostly relaxed and indulged (they have the BEST Nasi Goreng for breakfast!) but really enjoyed getting away to the Uluwatu temple for the Balinese Kecak fire dance at sunset.
Our next stop was the Oberoi in Seminyak. It is a true Balinese style resort and the oldest in the area. In Seminyak we indulged in amazing restaurants and body surfed in the Indian Ocean. We took one daytrip to the Nirwana Golf Club for a breathtaking golf experience (there are 13 temples on the property with three holes running along the Indian Ocean, not to mention the rice patties… simply breathtaking). The concierge and General Manager at the Oberoi made fantastic recommendations; it didn’t hurt we got upgraded to a Luxury Villa with an ocean view and complimentary breakfast!
Our last stop was the Uma Ubud. We got another private transfer (one of the only things in addition to booking our flights and hotel we actually planned!) and spent the day stopping at batik and wood carving shops. The Uma Ubud was beautiful, very different from the first two ocean front resorts but the best place for more adventure. We got another upgrade, this time to a Pool Villa overlooking the Balinese jungle. The sleek and modern hotel was the perfect setting to relax from our days of touring the Monkey Forest and exploring Ubud. We experienced a purification ceremony at the Tirta Empul, an authentic Balinese cooking class, and ended our time in Bali with an amazing dinner at Mozaic.
Beach cover ups are an essential wardrobe staple on any tropical vacation, especially on the beaches of Bora Bora! A great cover up can take you from breakfast, to a beachside lunch, and sunset cocktails. See some of our favourites below!

What could be better than enjoying the sunset on a private island while eating an amazing dinner for two in Bora Bora? Not much! Four Seasons Bora Bora offers a variety of private dinners that range from a complete private island experience to a catered dinner at your bungalow. Below are a few of my favourite private dinner options for newly weds in Bora Bora!
“Imagine the two of you, seemingly miles away on a private white sand motu dotted with palms. The most romantic and private dining experience begins with a canoe ride from the shore to our sunset motu – your private island dining location. An array or canapés are enjoyed alongside rose Champagne. Our Executive Chef will cater to your every whim, with decadent flavors such as Wagyu beef, lobster and local specialties are enjoyed, while your private server tends to your dining needs. A Polynesian fire dance concludes your special evening, before your canoe ride back to the shore.”
“Enjoy sipping Champagne with canapés on a private palm lined area on the beach as you marvel over the incredibly romantic sunset. You will then be escorted down the beach to your private table for two as the candlelight shimmers on the waters of the lagoon. Enhanced by local flowers, your surroundings are set for a three-course meal prepared by our Executive Chef.”
“Experience your romantic dinner in the comfort of your own overwater bungalow. Your terrace table will be set for two with candlelight, Polynesian flower décor, a half bottle of chilled Champagne and canapés. A three-course meal prepared by our Executive Chef will be served by our in-room dining specialist.”

Four Seasons Bora Bora is a gorgeous resort in French Polynesia and it sure does not disappoint! I was lucky enough to visit this incredible resort with photographer Jose Villa, videographer Joel Serrato, Cortnie Fausner from The Venue Report, and Summer Ball from Grey Likes Weddings. We spent our days relaxing, eating amazing food at restaurants with incredible views, getting treated at the spa, riding jet skis around the island, and swimming with sharks (!!!). As you can tell, Four Seasons Bora Bora is the perfect destination for couples who want a tropical paradise getaway. The breathtaking mountains and the clear blue water provide the perfect surrounding for a romantic and surreal vacation. The overwater bungalows are absolutely gorgeous- you can jump right into the water from your balcony!

The absolute highlight of the trip was the full day shark and ray tour with lunch! We went out on a small boat with the most fun guide named Stephen. He was such a character and we laughed nonstop all day! We snorkelled, swam with rays, and even swam with sharks, it was such a surreal experience! Below is a photo Jose Villa took… those are my legs with a shark swimming below!
Four Seasons Bora Bora has a lot of water activities available, from snorkelling to canoes to stand up paddle boards. There is so much to do while you’re there! I would highly recommend riding jet skis around the main island of Bora Bora, we had so much fun! It was so gorgeous to see the mountains on the main island from all the way around. It sprinkled for a little bit and then there was a huge rainbow over the mountains, it was like a dream. And it was incredible to see all of the shades of blue in the water! Even these beautiful photos cannot do it justice – it is so clear. We stopped a couple times along the way and jumped off of our jet skis and swam for a bit. Definitely a memorable experience!
Stay tuned for Thursday’s post on the romantic private dining options that Four Seasons Bora Bora offers – so perfect for your honeymoon!
