I just shared a hotel Spotlight on Four Seasons Lanai at Manele Bay, and now I want to share my personal experience! I definitely recommend this resort to any couple who is looking for a laid back, tropical vibe on their honeymoon. The island of Lanai is fairly big, but only has the Four Seasons on the beach, a Four Seasons Lodge on the hillside (which has a more mountain lodge feeling), and a very small town. The rest of the island is empty! It’s so beautiful! The arrival experience was great. You fly into Hololulu, where someone meets you at the gate, drives you to the other airport and it has a nice lounge with drinks and snacks. You check in to the hotel in the lounge so you can go right to your room when you arrive in Lanai. Then just a quick flight from Honolulu to Lanai, drive to the hotel, and you are in paradise!
There is a frequent shuttle between the two Four Seasons resorts so you can easily visit both, and each resort has such a unique vibe! We stayed on the beach and had dinner at the lodge one night which was really nice. Then one day we rented a hummer and drove around the island. Everywhere was so beautiful and completely empty!
Then also be sure to hike out to Sweetheart Rock. It is a very easy hike from the Four Seasons at Manele Bay and the views are incredible!
The resort is currently undergoing a lot of updates, so it will be even more amazing once those are complete. Lanai is such a gorgeous island and perfect if you want something a little off the beaten path and more unique. Just a few miles west of Maui, Lanai was once Hawaii’s largest pineapple plantation. Now, Lanai is a small, private island and is the perfect Hawaiian destination for a couple who truly wants a tranquil tropical honeymoon. Four Seasons Lanai at Manele Bay is perched atop a rugged red-lava cliff above a white sand beach. If you follow along on Instagram, you know that I just returned from a pretty amazing trip to Half Moon Bay for Thanksgiving. We wanted to get away for a few days, and didn’t want to travel too far. My boyfriend Dave had stayed at The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay a few years ago for a work trip and loved it, so we decided that would be the perfect place to spend Thanksgiving. And it most certainly was. I mean, this was the view from our room!
The coastline felt like Ireland with the beautiful green grass and cliffs over the ocean! There was even a bagpiper at sunset every evening. Walking along the coast every morning was a definite highlight of the trip.
One day we drove to the local redwood forest to go hiking which was so, so beautiful. Then we drove down to Thomas Fogarty Winery for fabulous wine tasting. Bonus- guests of the Ritz Carlton receive complimentary wine tasting here!
We sure did eat good in Half Moon Bay. Some of our favorites were Sam’s Chowder House for beautiful views and awesome clam chowder, It’s Italia for delicious thin crust pizza, and Cetrella for a yummy dinner with live music. We also loved the firepits at the Ritz Carlton for wine and s’mores!
