The Wonders of Chile

Destination Spotlight |

It’s true, not all honeymoons involve white sands, bikinis, and drinks served to you in coconuts (although I’ve enjoyed a few coconut drinks in my day!). Instead, pack your hiking boots and let’s get to exploring. At Tierra Atacama Hotel and Spa and Tierra Patagonia Resort and Spa in Chile you will be delivered a remarkable experience.

Tierra Atacama Hotel and Spa is home to some of the best stargazing in the world. It’s rich with history, culture and tradition. We are talking about cultures that have existed for 10,000 years! By visiting you are bound to be provided true perspective by the grandiose mountains and scenic landscapes either by foot, horseback or bike. Need a break? Relax in the spa or in the pool to indulge in the hotel luxuries as well.

Tierra Patagonia Resort and Spa is farther south in Chile and settled next to Lake Sarmiento and the mountain peaks of the Chilean Patagonia. Enjoy the impressive views and sip on Chilean wines after your daily treks through the Patagonia Mountains. Let the expert guides on-hand share world famous sights and the tucked away hidden ones as well.

Okay, let’s start you off with Tierra Atacama…

Now, head south to Tierra Patagonia Resort and Spa.

Relaxing and looking out onto the 600 acres of Canyon Point in Southern Utah at the Amangiri resort.

During the day you can take a hot air balloon trip. The hot air balloons launch directly from Amangiri.  Prepare for spectacular views over Lake Powell, Navajo Mountain, the Vermillion Cliffs and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

I am obsessed with their resort pool and how it’s perfectly tucked into canyon! The desert views are equally breathtaking at day or night. Loving the fire pits and candles. Makes for plenty of romantic spots to slip away to.

Haven’t we all said at one time or another that we’d love to go to a private island? It’s a reality at Royal Davui Island Resort in Fiji, and we would like to be taken there immediately!  This adults only resort features just 16 suites, all with ocean views and private pools.  As if that isn’t enough, they also have a private sand quay just off the coast!

Fiji Sand Quay Honeymoon

After a quick boat ride you’re on a private sand quay where a sunshade, lounge chairs, and a picnic are arranged for you.

Fiji-Sand-Quay-Picnic

The best part? It’s exclusively reserved for one couple at a time, so it’s all yours for a few hours. Does it get any more romantic than that?!

Riding Elephants in Chiang Mai

Destination Spotlight |

Prior to going to Thailand, I was most looking forward to getting to ride elephants, and this was definitely a highlight of the trip!  We went to Maetaman Elephant Camp where we rode elephants and then went on a bamboo raft down the river.

There are many places in Chiang Mai where you can ride elephants, but we chose to go here because they have a really long trail and you also go through the river.

On the way back we stopped to see the 3 week old baby elephant with it’s mom!  SO CUTE!!!

After that we took a ride down the river on a bamboo raft.  It was so beautiful and peaceful on the water!

I  highly recommend a day at Maetaman Elephant Camp for anyone visiting Chiang Mai!

Chiang Mai Elephants

Destination Spotlight |

Another highlight of my time in Chiang Mai was the elephants!  We went to Maesa Elephant Camp where we fed elephants bananas and sugar cane and took pictures with them.  Here I am getting lots of love from a few very friendly elephants!

Then it was bath time.  They were so cute all splashing around in the river!

After that was the show where they danced, played soccer, and threw darts.

The best part was watching them paint!  It was so amazing to watch- they were so precise with every stroke!

Here are the finished products!  You could buy the paintings after they were done.  I would definitely recommend a visit to Maesa Elephant Camp to anyone visiting Chiang Mai.  Next up is our day riding elephants!
