The Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Riviera Maya was the perfect location for newlyweds Jonny & Athena to escape for their honeymoon! The property was both a perfect oasis to relax, and also close enough to daytime adventures and nighttime city-life when the two felt like getting out. The resort is a stunning wildlife preserve, filled with exotic plants and animals, all of which they were able to enjoy first hand.
What I love about this honeymoon is how well Johnny and Athena split their time. They spent a lot of time relaxing on the sand, drinking fruity drinks and soaking up the sun, and they also did fun excursions and really immersed themselves in the surrounding culture. Here are a few of their favorite activities, from swimming in the historic cenote, to zip-lining, to exploring old Mayan ruins, and going snorkeling.

Perhaps my favorite part about Petit St Vincent Resort are the gorgeous new cottages. No phones, no televisions, no internet. Instead each cottage has flags outside. Need something? Raise the yellow flag. Want to be left alone? Raise the red flag.
Most cottages are right on the beach, and then some cottages are set up in the hills with forever views! I was in Cottage 14, right on the sand. Let me show you around!
The absolute best part of the cottages is the view! I loved having chairs right on the beach, as well as a hammock! And look at that beach and the bright blue water!
Beautiful right? Let’s just say I never wanted to leave. Never.

Shortly after returning from Thailand, I headed off to Petit St Vincent Resort. This is a private island resort located within the chain of islands called St Vincent and the Grenadines in the Southern Caribbean. I absolutely loved this resort, and I can’t recommend it enough for honeymoon couples!
This is a private island resort with 22 individual cottages, gorgeous white sand beaches, and unbelievable service. The atmosphere is so relaxed on the island, and the staff is incredibly friendly and anxious to help with anything you need.
You can do as much or as little as you want during your stay on the island. There are private beaches throughout the island, so you can be dropped off for a day of complete privacy with a picnic lunch. If you are looking to be a little more active there are hiking trails throughout the island (the views from the top are incredible!), as well as snorkeling, kayaks, and tennis. The resort can also arrange sailing trips to visit the Tobago Cays for unbelievable snorkeling, and to other nearby islands including Carriacou, Canouan, and Mustique.
An absolute must is a visit to the resort’s new spa. It is built up on a hill and the spa rooms can be completely open so you can feel the breeze and hear the waves while you are getting your spa treatments. Heaven.
Another fabulous recent addition to the island is the beach restaurant and beach bar. Lobster doesn’t get any fresher than this!

Prior to going to Thailand, I was most looking forward to getting to ride elephants, and this was definitely a highlight of the trip! We went to Maetaman Elephant Camp where we rode elephants and then went on a bamboo raft down the river.
There are many places in Chiang Mai where you can ride elephants, but we chose to go here because they have a really long trail and you also go through the river.
On the way back we stopped to see the 3 week old baby elephant with it’s mom! SO CUTE!!!
After that we took a ride down the river on a bamboo raft. It was so beautiful and peaceful on the water!
I highly recommend a day at Maetaman Elephant Camp for anyone visiting Chiang Mai!
